- Promoting Cycling and Walking
The modular parklet is a flexible piece of urban infrastructure that integrates bike racks, seating, and greenery. It not only encourages cycling and walking but also enhances the overall quality and comfort of the streetscape. - Impact on the Streetscape
With its colorful and eye-catching design, the parklet serves as a visible landmark for sustainable mobility and a symbol of more people-friendly streets. - Flexible and Multifunctional
The modular design allows the solution to be scaled, adapted, and integrated into any street or space – supporting diverse uses and evolving urban needs.
Introduction
Parkly has developed five parklet concepts designed to address key urban challenges and meet the evolving needs of cities. The MOVE parklet functions as a micro-mobility hub, enabling seamless transitions between different modes of transport while enhancing street safety, comfort, and overall urban experience.
As modular urban furniture, Parkly follows the principles of the circular economy – each part is adaptable, repairable, and reusable to suit different locations and community needs.
MOVE supports active mobility by providing convenient parking for bikes, prams, and other micro-mobility equipment, alongside inviting seating areas and greenery that make streets more livable and human-centered. By fostering smooth multimodal connections, MOVE encourages sustainable, low-emission commuting and contributes to more vibrant, inclusive, and resilient urban environments.

The Solution
In Espoo, Parkly piloted the MOVE parklet as part of the city’s Sustainable Future Districts programme. The experiment aimed to enhance local urban attractiveness and support cycling and walking through improved bike parking and seating.
Installed in Leppävaara, the MOVE parklet consisted of six modular units, transforming a former car parking space into a green, welcoming micro-mobility hub — combining bike racks, seating, and plants to encourage sustainable everyday movement and more enjoyable city life.
“Streets are an essential part of any city, which is why we’ve focused on developing new, versatile solutions for making better use of street space promoting both sustainable mobility and inviting places to pause and enjoy. By combining multiple functions, we can reach diverse users and improve the streetscape as a whole.” says Päivi Raivio from Parkly.
